An Open Letter...

Dear cast of NYC Prep,

You are in high school. You are teenagers. As such, none of you own the city of New York.

P. S. Do any of you have parents?

Is anyone else obsessed with Texts From Last Night? I check it when I can (read: when I am supposed to be working)...

Check out this little gem:

(603): Is it sad that the only reason I haven't lapsed into depression is that I'm prettier than her?
(1-603): Nah, we all need something.

A Lack of Creativity...

WARNING: This post is going to be boring.

Lately, I have been completely lacking inspiration (some may argue I never had it, but I digress...).

Anyhow, I am going to post this little questionnaire while I come up with something much more interesting...

A - Age: 26...I am on the down-hill slide to thirty and I don't know how I feel about it.
B - Bed size: Full size. It is the mattress I have had since I lived in a townhouse with 3 other girls in college. Maybe it's time for a grown-up bed?
C - Chore you hate: Sorting socks. I love laundry, but I LOATHE dealing with the socks.
D- Dog's name: Junior

E - Essential start your day item: A Diet Coke. Bonus points if it is from a fountain.
F - Favorite color: Blue.
G - Gold or Silver or platinum: Platinum.
H - Height: 5'7. A more accurate measurement would probably be 5'6 3/4" but I prefer 5'7.
I - Instruments you play: I took piano lessons from my father for one week when I was a kid.
J- Job title: Operations Analyst. No, I do not know what this means.

K - Kid(s): Eventually.
L- Living arrangements: Studio apartment.
M - Mom's name: Jen
N - Nicknames: Nothing that is fit for print.

O - Overnight hospital stay other than birth: A couple. When I do something, I do it all the way, so both stays were several days long. And they never would give me the red jello I wanted.
P - Pet Peeve: The lack of hand-written correspondence.
Q - Quote from a movie: I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me... but I can't help it that I'm so popular. ~Mean Girls
R - Right handed or left handed: Right handed. Although during boring meetings/conference calls, I practice writing left-handed.
S - Siblings: 2 sisters. One older (half-sister) and one younger.
T- Time you wake up: 6:30-ish. I have a long commute and I will do just about anything to get those extra few minutes of sleep.
U- Underwear
: Yes, please.
V - Vegetable you dislike: Carrots. I will eat them, but I won't like it.
W - Ways you run late: NEVER. Tardiness is not very nice.
X - X-rays you've had: Oh goodness. More than I can count on one hand.
Y - Yummy food you make: Peatunorni. Delicious.

Z - Zoo favorite: Hippopotamus. Giraffe. Elephant.

I couldn't have said it better myself...

So my friend JW and I were texting back and forth about today's events (Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson's deaths) and I was trying to figure out how to properly pay tribute to Michael Jackson (seeing as how his album was the first I ever danced to as a little kid). This is what she came up with...

"I would call him a 'thriller.' Hands down, he thrilled us, good or BAD. Oh and don't forget that Billie Jean was not his lover."

Keep in mind, she had been drinking, but still...I couldn't have said it better myself...

I {heart} monograms

Go over to Katherine's blog and enter her giveaway for her 100th post!

Wouldn't that look cute with my new initials? (Hint: the answer is yes!)

An open letter...

Dear City of Houston,

When the thermometer says 100 degrees and it is 7:45 PM*, something is wrong with your weather.

I was almost over it...

Ha! I bet you all thought that I was gone! I almost was, but now I am back.

I have been struggling lately (read: always...which is sad considering that I have only had this blog for a little over a week...) with what topics to write about. I have all sort of stories and ramblings, but I am not positive anyone wants to read about them. Maybe I will just start talking and you guys (whoever it is that happens to stumble on this page...) can tell me what you want to hear and don't want to hear. Deal? Deal.

How do you wake up Lady GaGa?

Why my friends are funnier than I am...

I recieved this little gem of an e-mail from my friend JW at 7:52 AM this morning
(by the way..."Have you had a lot of hits?" was in reference to this blog)...

Have you had a lot of hits? My cab driver this morning has a business called "jobs are overrated". He has a website for it but haven't checked that out yet either. I did, however, manage to flash everyone in the McDonalds line at the san Antonio airport. Some nice soldier finally informed me that my dress was caught in my computer bag. Good thing I was wearing my blue hanky pankys...they bring out my eyes! :)

Have a good one...tgif!

Okay, let's get something straight here...I love clothes. I mean, I really LOVE clothes. If I could find a job that let me do something clothing related that wasn't design, I would be all over it.

I would certainly say that I have a certain look. Some may call it preppy. Some call it conservative. Some call it classic. I have a strong loyalty to certain brands, but every now and again I am not afraid to venture into unfamiliar territory and try something new.

One place I never go...Lilly Pulitzer. I don't get it. I know a lot of girls out there swoon when they see it, and that is fantastic...to each is own. I will admit, when I see some of their collections I will admire a little black dress here and there...sometimes a cute bangle or clutch...but in general I am a strictly NO LILLY sort of gal. I just don't understand how grown up women can think that they look attractive in some of those prints.

Fast forward to last weekend when I got an e-mail announcing "Glow in the Dark Prints"...for ADULTS.

Thanksomuch. Rant ended.

Daily Pep Talk from a Best Friend

Pep talk: Everybody feels awkward sometimes. Maybe you hug a little too long or wave at a stranger who looks like your friend. Eh, forget it. These things are unavoidable. Skip the remorse and move right on to your next moment of smoothness.

Today remind yourself: I brush it off.

Have you ever heard of Daily Pep Talk from a Best Friend? Go there. It is fantastic. Some stuff is silly. Some inspiring. Some just plain cute. It's a good daily reminder of just how awesome you are.

A life more exciting...

Some people are probably wondering why the title of this blog is what it is...good question...

I have a few friends that really encouraged me to start blogging (none of them blog themselves...hi JW!) because I had all of these random things happening to (and around) me and they all thought it would be terrific fodder for a blog. We used to constantly joke that I was going to write my memoirs one day and that they would be ridiculous...

When I finally get around to writing my memoirs (despite Miley Cyrus' example, I do not think it is appropriate for someone under 45 to write any form of autobiography), they will be called "Tats are Forever: Tales From a Life More Exciting Than It Should Be."

Here's why:

I dated a boy in college and one day his mother asked me to go with her to get a tattoo (klassy, I know) and so I did (mainly because I wanted to watch the circus take place). We went to the tattoo parlor, she picked out her design, the tattoo artist showed her what it would look like, etc. He put the outline on her skin, she approved the location, and the work began. Fast forward to two days later...the college boyfriend's mother is in the bathroom (she told us she was taking a bath) and we can hear her crying. We knock on the door and ask what's wrong. She explains that she is trying to scrub the tattoo off of her body (side note: short of laser removal and fading with age, tattoos do not just "scrub" off). That is when I had to explain to her, "Tattoos are forever."

I can share the above story because I am no longer associated with any of those people. The boyfriend from college is now married and his mother went on to do a reality show. So, yeah...I am not really worried about what they think.

Please tell me someone else watched The Real Housewives finale last night??!?? Please tell me someone else found it to be the most amazing show on television??!??

I cannot help it. I am obsessed. Season after season, I try and give it up and season after season I come back.

I am the first to admit, when I heard they were doing a season in Jersey, I was a bit skeptical. I know there is a lot of money in New Jersey, but still...it's Jersey...how exciting can it be? Damn was I wrong.

Well played, Bravo, well played.

Am I the only one not into the whole Twitter movement?

Allow me to introduce myself (Sort of)...

Well, internets...welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere...
I am hoping that this little endeavor proves longer lasting than any of my previous forays into diary writing (the longest of which I believe lasted 2 days).

Hopefully, I won't get bored and neither will you, my dear (albeit non-existent) readers! I hope I can win you over with my witty repartee, new shopping finds, wedding planning victories & disasters, and whatever other randomness and overshares I can come up with.

As I said before, here goes nothing...

Here goes nothing...

Dear internets,
I have been reading about everyone else's lives for so long, I figured it was only fair that I start blogging about mine. We will see how this goes...
