For Serious.

A few days ago, Amanda of Martinis or Diaper Genies? was complaining that her friend stole her super-secret baby name to give to his dog.

Naturally, this cracked me up. So I gave her some new name suggestions, mainly because I am helpful and a good friend.

Here was my list (don't worry you guys, I am not using any of these...you can have them):
Butch
Gryffendor
Cholera
Avarice
Lemonjello
Mercedes Chanel
Candy Kahne
Tyranny
Amiraclenamedamy
Samurai

So after my comment, Amanda sends me an e-mail telling me which one of her names is her favorite. One of them was Amireaclenamedamy.

Which leads me to the point of this post: That is a REAL NAME. I met the girl's mother (who had a perfectly normal name) the other day. Her daughter goes by "Miracle." True Story.

I love Lemonjello (pronounced "Lah mon jah low"). Hilarity! My sister went to school with a brother and sister pair named Neo and Trinity. NO JOKE, I CANNOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP. And my friend once told me that she knew a girl who named her kid Syphyllis because it "sounded pretty." Wow.

I really really wish you were kidding.

My roommate in college went to school with a girl named Lukemia. My husband's cousin teaches a girl named Velocity.

What is wrong with people?!

I had to read it a few times to get it. Yes I'm slow, not always the brightest crayon in the box. lol

Wow. I mean- why would Miracle be your first choice in that hot mess? Why?

My grandpa used to tell me that this lady had twins and she decided to name them Male and Female...pronouced Molly and Fla-molly.

I think it was a joke.

My mom's dog's name is Gyffindor...we call him Gyrffin.

My favorites are Gryffendor, Lemonjello, and Amiraclenamedamy. And I was afraid Amiraclenamedamy was a real name...too long for you to have made up. Did she say WHY she named her daughter that??? :)

I'm not having children anytime soon, but I always wanted a puggle named Kate Moss and to call her Mossy. My current dog is a boy and Ellen (mother) didn't understand why I wanted to name him "Marc Jacobs" ...so his name is Jett.

Your list- are those dog names or baby names?! =D E

Hilarious! I love "Tyranny" - seriously people, way to set your kid up for the rest of their life. I mean, how could anyone ever elect a President named "Tyranny" - sounds like they should have been a dictator in ancient Rome!

Dustjacket Attic said...

Oh my Lord, Tyranny! I have heard some crazy names on kids lately, poor things.

Holy crap! Cannot belive that's a real name! I mean, really?

HAHAHA! This is so freaking hilarious. And your list is to die for! Personally I think I'm going to go with Mercedes Chanel when I have kids. Hope you don't mind if I steal your name. (What?!? I want my little girl to have a Klassy name! haha)

All too often I wonder whatinthefreakingheck parents were thinking when they named their children. True story, when I was younger, I knew a kid named Pajamas. (But they pronounced it Padge-uh-muss.) Umm, seriously? Seriously? You named your kid Pajamas?!

haha! LOVE that you listed lemonjello. what about orangejello? :)

I had a girl with a similar name, but she spelled it Myracol!

Most of the crazy names I have are just mis-spellings (and, really, that's what they are!)

AMAZING. I know a kid named Lemonjello. Really. But Amiraclenamedamy just absolutely takes the freakin' cake! If only I were having a girl..
